Zenith Fellow Mentee, Class of 2025
Carleton University, 3rd Year B.Eng. Aerospace Engineering - Space Systems Design
Mentor:
Roshanak Zabihi

Sam is a driven third-year Aerospace Engineering student specialising in Space Systems Design at Carleton University. Born in the UK and later moving to Nova Scotia, Sam got started in engineering through the FIRST Lego League competition, where his team went onto the national and international stage, eventually winning the 2016 Global Innovators award for a compostable plastic the team developed. This love for math, the sciences, and the environment strengthened as he got older.

Sam is active in the Canadian space community, being a Regional Representative for SEDS-ÉEDS Canada where he hosted a NASA Space Apps Challenge. He is also a member of Carleton’s high-powered rocketry team, where he works with Avionics on the RF board. In 2022, Sam also competed in the Canadian Engineering Competition where his team were runners up in the Engineering Consulting division. Next year, Sam is completing his 16-month co-op term, and over the summer, is conducting research at Carleton in computational electromagnetism.

In his personal life, Sam enjoys creating art and reading. One of his favourite books is Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. He is also an avid guitar player, playing in a band in his free time. Sam is excited to be a part of the Zenith Pathways community and looks forward to creating new and meaningful connections with like-minded people.
