Momo Das is a third-year Honours Biology student at York University, recognized for her dedication and achievements in medical and physiological research, advocating for inclusivity in science, and involvement at the Allan I. Carswell Astronomical Observatory. From a young age, Momo had a strong curiosity in human space exploration and the science behind the human body in such an environment.

Being a past patient in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Momo’s drive for being a part of medical research stemmed from a young age when she was introduced to the surgical field. During her 2nd year of university, she was awarded to be the 2024 OMF Surgery Summer Research student at the University of Toronto. She studied the remodeling of MMF wiring education for healthcare practitioners to reduce airway obstruction in patients. Momo is a member at the Allan I Carswell Astronomical Observatory where she studies celestial objects using a vast range of imaging and telescopes. She enjoys hosting and educating tour groups from all ages and backgrounds. Momo is passionate about the interdisciplinary study of space and medicine and her ability to understand the critical aspects of both fields has allowed her to make contributions to the fields.

Beyond academics, Momo has a diverse creative side. She enjoys fashion designing, baking, and hosting fun get togethers. She is an advocate for creating a safe and enlightening environment for women to excel in science and shows her support through being the undergraduate representative at WICYU. As well, she works with her father to run free art classes in her community for kids.

Looking ahead, Momo aspires to contribute to the space medicine field to help reach the ultimate goal of achieving human space exploration to various levels. With a steadfast commitment to learning and exploration, they are determined to make meaningful contributions that drive progress and create lasting change. In every endeavor, Momo remains guided by intellectual curiosity, resilience, and a deep-seated passion for discovery.
