Melanie is a student at Queen’s University, finishing her third year of engineering physics with a mechanical focus. Melanie is currently the Vice President of Queen’s Rocket Engineering Team (QRET) where she oversees a team of 75+ members in the design and construction of an internationally competing supersonic rocket flying to 30,000 ft.

Last summer Melanie explored her passion for particle physics in her role as an undergraduate researcher working on the NEWS-G dark matter experiment based in SNOLAB. She worked on the design and testing of high voltage sensors used to detect theorized dark matter collisions. In the future, Melanie hopes to explore a combination of industry and academia and plans on pursuing graduate studies.

Originally from Calgary, Melanie likes to spend her free time outdoors, skiing, hiking, and camping. She also enjoys listening to music and is rarely found without a pair of headphones.
