Cameron Brooks is a student at Western University in London, Ontario who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering Science in Electrical Engineering. From a young age, he has always had a passion for creating and exploring which ultimately drew him to science and engineering.

He is passionate about sustainable development and openness in science & engineering. He is currently a member of the Free Appropriate Sustainable Technology (FAST) group where his focus is on designing open hardware systems for applications including plastic recycling, additive manufacturing, and water sterilization. This past year he was able to share his passion and experience with others through his role as a Teaching Associate with the How to Change the World program.

Within the community, he is an active member of Western’s Undergraduate Engineering Society as part of several committees and this year's Wellness Commissioner and incoming Vice-President Internal for 2023/24. Cameron has further experience from his involvement with organizations and teams spanning the areas of solar car design, humanitarian aid, mental health, recreation & aquatics, lifesaving techniques, education, and entrepreneurship.

Through ZCPF he hopes to gain insight and experience in the space sector while applying his previous knowledge and experience in designing Open Source Hardware (OSH) to the space sector through initiatives such as Open Source Satellite, the RTEMS project, and the Libre Space Foundation.

Outside of coursework and research, Cameron enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hiker and mountain biker. He has a liking for black coffee, silk shirts, and capybaras.
